Accused to be sentenced to 20 years in prison and fined Rs 50,000,
odisha state under Jharsuguda district Hearing a minor girl molestation case, the Additional District and Sessions Judge (POCSO Court) on Thursday sentenced the accused Bob alias Dixon Singharia (23) to 20 years in prison and ordered him to pay a fine of Rs 50,000. It has also been ordered that if the accused fails to pay Rs 50,000 to the victim, he will have to undergo another year in prison. In addition, Additional District and Sessions Judge (POCSO Court) Judge Puja Shadangi has ordered the government to pay a compensation of Rs 10 lakh. The accused, Dixon, had molested a 4-year-old minor girl from Marubistanpada under Jharsuguda Sadar police station on December 13, 2024. The minor girl’s mother filed a complaint at the Sadar police station on 15th of the same year. After receiving the complaint, the police arrested the accused and investigated and tried him in court. On 24th January 2025, the police officer Nektarani Gochayat filed a charge sheet in the court. Today, the Additional District and Sessions Judge (POCSO Court) heard the case and pronounced the verdict based on the documents of 14 witnesses and 32 reports. The accused was sentenced to 20 years in prison and a fine of Rs 50,000. The case was handled by Special PP Raj Kumar Srivas on behalf of the government under the supervision of Jharsuguda Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Vrindavan Nayak. The investigation of this case was done by IIC Swapnarani Gochayat of Sadar police station.
